Palghar district’s Chavhar area is facing an acute water shortage just days before Diwali, prompting residents to demand immediate relief.
The Chavhar locality in Palghar, Maharashtra, has reported a critical depletion of water supplies in the days leading up to the Diwali festival. Local authorities say that reservoir levels have fallen sharply, leaving many households without adequate drinking water.
Residents gathered near municipal offices and water distribution points, voicing concerns over the scarcity and urging the district administration to expedite water tankers and repair pipelines. Community leaders highlighted that the shortage could exacerbate health risks during the festive season.
The district collector’s office confirmed that emergency measures are being mobilised, including the deployment of additional water tankers from neighboring talukas. Officials have also appealed to citizens to conserve water and report any illegal connections that may be aggravating the crisis.
While the situation remains tense, the administration has pledged to monitor water levels continuously and provide regular updates to the public. The hope is that the combined efforts of authorities and citizens will mitigate the shortage before Diwali celebrations begin.
