The Securities and Exchange Board of India affirmed that its Centralized Admission System will remain in force, prompting market participants to align with the revised framework.
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has officially stated that the Centralized Admission System (CAS) will continue to operate, dispelling recent speculation about its possible withdrawal. SEBI’s clarification comes as part of its broader effort to stabilise market infrastructure after a period of regulatory adjustments.
CAS, introduced to streamline the admission of new trading participants and to enhance transparency in the securities market, functions as a single‑window platform for onboarding brokers, sub‑brokers and other intermediaries. By consolidating data and verification processes, the system aims to reduce duplication and improve compliance oversight.
Industry experts warn that the permanence of CAS will require traders and brokerage firms to fully integrate the platform into their operational workflows. They advise firms to upgrade their technology stacks, train staff on the new procedures, and review internal controls to avoid compliance lapses.
SEBI indicated that it will monitor the implementation closely and may issue further guidance in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition for all market participants.
