The Supreme Court refused to stay a graft FIR linked to the Punjab Chief Minister's Office, but directed the CBI not to take any coercive steps in the case. The observation came during a hearing on a plea challenging the FIR's registration.

The Supreme Court bench heard a plea seeking to stay the registration of a graft FIR that is linked to the Punjab Chief Minister's Office. After considering the arguments, the court declined to grant a stay on the FIR, allowing the investigation to proceed.

At the same time, the court issued a direction restraining the Central Bureau of Investigation from taking any coercive action, such as arrests or searches, in connection with the case. This means the FIR remains active but the CBI cannot proceed with forceful measures.

The ruling balances the need to keep the investigation alive while protecting individuals from harsh investigative steps until further orders. The case will continue to be monitored by the court as it progresses.
