In a decisive ruling on 16 September 2026, the Boggose Court sentenced the accused in the 2019 sexual harassment case of a 5‑year‑old girl to 7 years in prison and a Rs 5,000 fine, and awarded Rs 2 lakh compensation to the victim.

On 16 September 2026, the Boggose Court in Thoothukudi district handed down a 7-year prison sentence and a Rs 5,000 fine to Tangaia Thavamani (E) Jnanathurai (67/26) in the 2019 sexual harassment case involving a 5-year-old girl in Sathankulam. The accused was arrested by the All Women Police Station under the Boggose law and has been in custody since the arrest.

The case, which arose in the Sathankulam All Women Police Station jurisdiction, saw the police detain the suspect from Kattarimangalam, Sathankulam, following allegations of sexual harassment against the child. The investigation led to the suspect’s arrest and subsequent trial in the Boggose Court.

Judge Mr. Murugan directed that the victim receive Rs 2 lakh compensation from the government relief fund, underscoring the court’s commitment to safeguarding children’s rights.
