Police in Sabalgarh, Madhya Pradesh, uncovered a cache of illegal fireworks valued at several million rupees from a house on Rampur Road just days before Diwali.
Sabalgarh police launched a large‑scale operation on the eve of Diwali after receiving intelligence about illegal firecracker storage. Officers entered a residential property opposite the Rampur Road cemetery and discovered a substantial stock of fireworks, officials said. The cache, estimated to be worth several million rupees, included a variety of crackers that are prohibited for sale and use without proper licensing.
The house, identified as belonging to a person named Dharmendra Batham, was searched under the state's stringent regulations against unlawful firecracker hoarding. Police confiscated the entire stock and initiated a formal investigation into the source and intended distribution network.
Authorities emphasized that the raid is part of a broader effort to curb illegal firecracker trade ahead of the festive season, citing safety concerns and the potential for accidents. The seized items have been handed over to the district fire department for safe disposal, and further legal action will be pursued against those responsible.
