A community‑organized 'Run for Hope' will be held in Kohima on September 10 to observe World Suicide Prevention Day and raise awareness about mental health.

Kohima, the capital of Nagaland, will host a public running event titled 'Run for Hope' on September 10, the internationally recognised World Suicide Prevention Day. The initiative, coordinated by local community groups and health volunteers, aims to bring together residents, students and officials for a short distance run that underscores the importance of mental‑health awareness.

Organisers have invited participants of all ages to join the run, which will start from the city’s central park and conclude at the Nagaland State Museum grounds. Along the route, informational kiosks will provide resources on suicide prevention, counseling services and helpline numbers available across the state.

The event is part of a broader national campaign to destigmatise mental health issues and encourage early intervention. Local authorities have pledged support by ensuring medical assistance and security throughout the run, reinforcing the message that help is accessible for anyone in distress.
