Rs 1,667 Crore Airport Revamp Planned for Srinagar by 2031

The state government of Jammu & Kashmir has unveiled a comprehensive development plan for Srinagar Airport, allocating Rs 1,667 crore to the project. The initiative is slated for completion by 2031, marking a major infrastructure push in the region.\n\nThe upgrade is expected to expand the airport’s capacity, modernise passenger terminals, and improve safety and navigation facilities. While detailed design specifications have not been released, officials say the revamp will bring the airport in line with international standards.\n\nKashmir Life reported that the investment reflects the administration’s focus on boosting tourism and improving connectivity to the Kashmir valley. Enhanced air links are projected to stimulate economic activity, attract more visitors, and provide a more reliable travel experience for residents.\n\nFunding for the scheme will come from the state’s capital budget, supplemented by central assistance where applicable. The project is also anticipated to generate construction jobs and ancillary opportunities for local businesses during its execution.
