Bengaluru, Sept. 21: Venu Gopal Gowda H. Patil, KPCC State General Secretary and Coordinator, has appealed for a ₹50 lakh grant to construct a Pilgrim Guest House (Yatri Nivas) at the historic Sri Lakshmi Ranganatha Temple in Jalahalli village of Devadurga taluk, Raichur district, for the convenience of devotees.
In this regard, Venu Gopal Gowda H. Patil met K.S. Basavanthappa, Minister for Muzrai and Fisheries, Ports and Inland Water Transport, Government of Karnataka, at Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru and submitted a memorandum seeking the required grant.
The Sri Lakshmi Ranganatha Temple, which has a history of around 150 years, comes under the jurisdiction of the Muzrai Department and is a major place of worship for devotees from more than 50 surrounding villages. Every year in April, a grand 15-day annual fair (Jatre) is held at the temple, attracting thousands of devotees from different communities who visit to offer prayers and perform religious services.
As there is no adequate accommodation facility for devotees arriving from distant places, they face considerable inconvenience during the annual fair and other religious occasions. In view of this, Venu Gopal Gowda H. Patil urged the Minister to sanction the necessary ₹50 lakh grant through the Muzrai Department for the construction of a Yatri Nivas at the temple.
