Rare Birds and Mammals Arrive at Mysore Zoo Under International Animal Exchange Program
Mysore’s Chamrajendra Zoo has welcomed a collection of rare birds and mammals from overseas as part of an animal exchange initiative.
Mysore, Karnataka – The Chamrajendra Zoo in Mysore has received a new batch of exotic animals under an international animal exchange program. The arrivals include several rare bird species and a variety of mammals, all transported safely from foreign zoos.
The exchange program aims to enhance genetic diversity and promote conservation efforts by sharing species between participating institutions. Zoo officials confirmed that the animals were moved under strict veterinary supervision and arrived in good health.
Zoo management said the new residents will be integrated into existing habitats after a period of quarantine and health monitoring. The addition is expected to enrich the zoo’s collection and provide visitors with broader opportunities to observe and learn about endangered wildlife.
The initiative reflects growing collaboration between Indian and overseas zoological parks, reinforcing commitments to wildlife preservation and public education.
