The Rajasthan Common Entrance Test (CET) for 2026 has been postponed to new dates because of the state's local body elections, impacting roughly four million candidates.
The Rajasthan state government announced that the Common Entrance Test (CET) scheduled for 2026 will be shifted to later dates to avoid a clash with the ongoing local body elections. The decision was communicated through an official circular issued by the State Higher Education Department, which cited the need to ensure a smooth conduct of both the electoral process and the entrance examinations.
Around four million students across the state had registered for the CET, which serves as a gateway to undergraduate courses in engineering, medicine, agriculture and other professional streams. The postponement means that aspirants will have to adjust their preparation timelines and await the revised timetable before making further arrangements for coaching, travel and accommodation.
The authorities have already released a provisional new schedule, with the written examinations now slated for the months following the conclusion of the polls. Candidates are advised to regularly check the official CET website and the Rajasthan Higher Education portal for the exact dates and any additional instructions.
Education officials emphasized that the rescheduling is intended to prevent any disruption to the election machinery while safeguarding the integrity of the entrance test. They assured students that the revised dates will provide ample time for fair and orderly conduct of the examination.
