Rajasthan aims to add 60 CNG stations by December, boosts DPNG expansion

The Rajasthan government has set a target to commission 60 new compressed natural gas (CNG) stations by December, while also accelerating the expansion of Delhi Petroleum and Natural Gas (DPNG) operations in the state.
The state administration announced a plan to roll out sixty additional CNG dispensing points across Rajasthan before the end of the year. The initiative is part of a broader effort to increase the availability of cleaner fuel options for vehicles and reduce reliance on petrol and diesel.
Officials said the new stations will be strategically located along major highways and in urban centres to maximise accessibility for commuters and commercial fleets. The rollout is expected to create jobs in construction, operations and maintenance, while also supporting the state's environmental targets.
The government is working closely with Delhi Petroleum and Natural Gas (DPNG), the primary private operator of CNG infrastructure, to fast‑track the project. DPNG will handle the technical aspects, including equipment supply and station certification, under a partnership framework with the state.
If the timeline is met, Rajasthan will join a growing list of Indian states that have significantly expanded their CNG networks, aligning with national policies aimed at promoting cleaner transportation fuels.
The plan will be reviewed periodically, and the state has pledged to monitor progress to ensure that the December deadline is met without compromising safety or service quality.
