During the Students Ki Goonj event in Indore, Rahul Gandhi arranged specialist eye treatment in Delhi for Priyanka Sengar, a student who suffered a lime injury in childhood and could not afford care.
Rahul Gandhi, speaking at the Students Ki Goonj programme in Indore, announced that he had fulfilled a promise made to a local student needing medical help. The student, 22‑year‑old Priyanka Sengar, had a small piece of lime (chuna) lodged in her eye since childhood, causing persistent irritation and vision problems.
Her family, facing financial constraints, was unable to secure the specialised ophthalmic care required to remove the foreign body. Gandhi intervened by coordinating her travel to Delhi, where she was admitted to a leading eye hospital for assessment and surgery.
The Delhi‑based specialists performed the procedure at no cost to the family, covering both the operation and post‑operative medication. Gandhi’s intervention was highlighted as part of his broader outreach to address health concerns among youth in Madhya Pradesh.
The successful treatment underscores the role of political representatives in facilitating access to essential healthcare for economically disadvantaged citizens.
