The Chief Minister of Bihar emphasized that the state's water requirements must be central to the forthcoming Ganga water sharing agreement among riparian states.

Patna, November 3 (The Times of India) – The Chief Minister of Bihar called for the state's water requirements to be given priority in the pending Ganga water sharing pact. He highlighted that Bihar, being a major downstream beneficiary, must have its agricultural and domestic needs adequately addressed in any inter‑state agreement.

The CM underscored that equitable allocation is essential for sustaining livelihoods across the region, urging neighboring states to consider Bihar's consumption patterns while negotiating water releases. He also indicated that the state will engage constructively with the central government and other riparian states to ensure a balanced framework.

Stakeholders are expected to convene in the coming weeks to finalize the terms of the pact, with the aim of preventing disputes and securing a reliable water supply for Bihar's millions of residents.
