Maharashtra MLA Pratap Sarnaik has urged non-Marathi speaking drivers across the state to learn Marathi by 2027, citing the need for better communication and safety on roads.

Pratap Sarnaik, a Member of Legislative Assembly from Maharashtra, has called on drivers who do not speak Marathi to begin learning the language by 2027.

The MLA said that effective communication between drivers and local authorities can improve road safety and reduce misunderstandings.

He added that basic Marathi proficiency would help drivers navigate official documents, traffic signs and emergency situations.

While the call has attracted media attention, no formal policy has yet been announced by the state government.
