A strike by electricity department staff in Gurugram has caused a citywide blackout, leading to more than 3,000 complaints within twelve hours.

Gurugram, Haryana, experienced a widespread power cut on Tuesday after employees of the local electricity board walked out on strike. The industrial and residential areas of the city were plunged into darkness, disrupting daily activities and business operations. The strike, which began in the early morning, was reportedly over pending wage issues and working conditions, though officials did not disclose full details. Within the first twelve hours, the utility’s helpline recorded over 3,000 complaints from residents and commercial establishments seeking restoration of supply. Authorities have warned that the outage could extend further if the dispute is not resolved promptly, and they are urging both parties to resume negotiations to restore power.
