Manjeri: A protest march to Manjeri Medical College was organized under the leadership of the DYFI Malappuram District Committee to oppose the UDF government's moves to dismantle the public health sector. DYFI State Joint Secretary K. Shyam Prasad inaugurated the march.
Protesters alleged that four months into the UDF government's tenure, efforts are underway to undermine Kerala's public health sector—once a global model—in favor of private corporate interests, leaving it plagued by medical negligence and shortages of medicines and doctors. The DYFI organized this protest to issue a warning regarding the need to safeguard the public health sector.
District President P. Shabeer presided over the event. DYFI State Committee member K. Neethu; District Vice Presidents E. Afsal and P. Ratheesh; and District Secretariat members M. Sajjad, Anas A., P. Sumith, K.V. Sreejesh, and E. Shijil addressed the gathering.
State Committee member N.M. Shafeeq delivered the welcome address, while Block Secretary C. Vipin proposed the vote of thanks.
