Police team attacked by villagers in Manigachi, Darbhanga; ASI injured, suspect also hurt

A police squad sent to arrest a suspect in Manigachi, Darbhanga, was pelted with stones by villagers, breaking the vehicle’s windshield and injuring an Assistant Sub‑Inspector; the accused also sustained injuries while trying to flee.
A police team entered Manigachi village in Darbhanga district to apprehend a suspect identified as Ajay Passwan. While attempting the arrest, a group of villagers surrounded the police convoy and began hurling stones at the officers.
The stone‑throwing caused the windshield of the police vehicle to shatter, and an Assistant Sub‑Inspector (ASI) sustained injuries from the impact. The injured ASI was immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
During the chaos, the accused tried to escape custody. In the ensuing scuffle he too was injured and was taken to the same hospital for medical care. Police officials confirmed that both the ASI and the suspect are receiving treatment and that the investigation into the villagers' assault is ongoing.
Local police have lodged a case against the villagers involved and are reviewing security protocols for future operations in the area.
