A Rajasthan court sentenced Lal Singh Gurjar and Pappu Gurjar to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000 each for a murder that occurred 17 years ago.

The district court in Dholpur handed down a life‑term verdict today against Lal Singh Gurjar and Pappu Gurjar, brothers of the erstwhile dacoit Jagannath Gurjar. Both were also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 each.

The conviction relates to a homicide that took place roughly 17 years ago, a case that has lingered in the judicial system for nearly two decades. Investigators had linked the two brothers to the murder, which was allegedly part of a feud involving their family’s criminal background.

Under the court’s order, each brother will serve imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life, reflecting the severity of the offence. The modest monetary penalty underscores the court’s focus on the custodial aspect of the punishment.

The judgment brings closure to a protracted legal battle that has drawn attention in Rajasthan, marking a decisive step in the state’s effort to address crimes associated with historic dacoit networks.
