The Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam has reopened to visitors, adding extra safari vehicles and unveiling a new museum showcasing the region’s biodiversity.

Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, situated in Assam’s Golaghat district, has opened its gates to tourists after a period of closure. The forest department has increased the number of safari jeeps operating within the sanctuary, allowing more visitors to experience its famed population of Indian rhinoceros and other wildlife.

Alongside the expanded safari fleet, a newly constructed museum now welcomes guests. The museum houses exhibits on the sanctuary’s flora, fauna and conservation efforts, aiming to educate visitors about the ecological importance of the area.

Officials say the enhancements are intended to boost eco‑tourism while ensuring sustainable wildlife viewing. The sanctuary’s management hopes the added capacity and educational facility will attract both domestic and international nature enthusiasts.
