Playwright Kat Sandler revealed plans to adapt the mythic figure Yaga for a television series, aiming to reframe the Slavic witch as a powerful, nuanced character.
Playwright Kat Sandler, known for her work on mythological themes, spoke to Zoom TV Entertainment about her upcoming project to bring the ancient Slavic figure Yaga to a modern television audience.
Sandler explained that Yaga, traditionally portrayed as a witch, will be reimagined as a complex protagonist whose powers and motives are explored in depth, rather than reduced to folklore tropes.
The playwright emphasized her goal of reclaiming the Slavic witch narrative, presenting Yaga as a symbol of female empowerment and cultural resilience.
While production details remain in early stages, Sandler indicated that the series could premiere within the next two years, potentially opening doors for more diverse mythological storytelling on Indian screens.
