An overloaded sand‑laden truck caused a rusted iron bridge over the Paraman River at Amour, Purnia to collapse, plunging the vehicle into the water. The driver escaped by jumping, but the incident has blocked the Jalalgarh‑Asiyani‑Amour route.
A rusted iron bridge spanning the Paraman River at Amour in Purnia district gave way when an overloaded sand‑laden truck attempted to cross it. The structure, already in a dilapidated state, could not bear the excess weight and collapsed under the vehicle.\n\nThe driver managed to jump out of the truck just before it plunged into the river, avoiding serious injury. The truck itself sank partially in the water, but no other casualties were reported.\n\nThe collapse has severed the Jalalgarh‑Asiyani‑Amour arterial road, a vital link for several villages in the region. Local authorities have cordoned off the site and diverted traffic while rescue teams retrieve the vehicle and assess the damage.\n\nOfficials have warned that similar aging bridges across the district pose a safety risk and have urged an immediate inspection of other vulnerable structures.
