Organs recovered from victims of a Haryana road crash were transplanted at PGI Chandigarh, giving a new lease of life to four patients.

A multi‑vehicle collision on a highway in Haryana left several victims, several of whom were declared brain‑dead. Their families consented to organ donation, allowing the recovered organs to be transferred to a nearby tertiary care centre.

The organs were received at the Post‑Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in Chandigarh, where surgeons performed transplants that restored vital functions for four critically ill patients. Hospital officials confirmed that the procedures were successful and the recipients are now in stable condition.

Health authorities highlighted the case as a reminder of the life‑saving potential of organ donation, urging the public to consider registration as donors to address the chronic shortage of transplantable organs in the country.
