Opposition parties and their supporters marched through New Delhi today, drawing a large police presence to maintain order.
Opposition parties, along with thousands of supporters, took to the streets of New Delhi on Tuesday, staging a protest against the ruling government’s policies. The march began at the Parliament area and proceeded through key civic landmarks.
Police forces were deployed in large numbers, with barricades, riot gear and a visible presence of armed officers along the route. Security officials reported that the crowd remained largely peaceful, though a few clashes with police were recorded near the central junctions.
The rally was organized by a coalition of opposition parties, who cited concerns over economic reforms and alleged misuse of power. Leaders from the main opposition parties addressed the crowd, demanding greater transparency and accountability.
While the protest was largely contained, the government’s spokesperson stated that the police had acted within the law and that the march was a normal exercise of democratic rights.
