Operation Walk With Atlantic, a non‑profit organization, teamed with Guru Ram Dass University to carry out free knee replacement surgeries for 53 patients in Amritsar.
The initiative, launched in early October, aimed to provide affordable orthopedic care to those who could not afford the procedure.
Surgeons from the university’s Department of Orthopedics performed the operations under the supervision of experienced faculty.
Patients, many of whom had been suffering from severe osteoarthritis, reported significant improvement in mobility and pain relief after the surgeries.
The program is expected to inspire similar collaborations between medical institutions and charitable groups across the country.
