To handle the surge of passengers during Diwali and Chhath, the North Western Railway’s Bikaner division will attach extra coaches to 15 express, superfast and unreserved trains.
The North Western Railway (NWR) announced that its Bikaner division will augment the composition of fifteen trains with additional coaches ahead of the Diwali and Chhath festivals. The move targets express, superfast and unreserved services that operate through Rajasthan and neighboring states, where passenger traffic traditionally spikes during these holidays.
Railway officials said the extra coaches will be attached to the existing rakes, allowing more seats without altering the train schedules. By increasing capacity, the railway aims to reduce overcrowding and improve comfort for the estimated surge of travelers during the festive period.
The decision, communicated to station masters and depot managers, will be implemented from the first day of the Diwali celebrations and continue through the Chhath weekend. Passengers are advised to check reservation portals for updated coach availability.
NWR has not disclosed the exact number of coaches per train, but the addition is expected to benefit thousands of commuters who rely on rail transport for holiday travel across the region.
