The Northeast Frontier Railway has introduced special train services for the Diwali season to accommodate pilgrims traveling to Matabari in Tripura.
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) announced a series of special trains for the upcoming Diwali holidays, aimed at easing the journey for devotees heading to Matabari in Tripura.
The new services will operate from several major junctions in the northeastern region, providing additional capacity on routes that are expected to see a surge in pilgrim traffic. Timings and frequencies have been adjusted to accommodate the increased demand during the festive period.
Officials said the initiative is part of NFR’s broader effort to improve connectivity for religious tourism in the region. The special trains will run on a dedicated schedule, with priority given to passengers traveling to and from Matabari.
Passengers are advised to book tickets in advance, as seats are likely to fill up quickly. The NFR has also increased staff on board to assist travelers with luggage and navigation to the pilgrimage sites.
