New Delhi hosts eco‑friendly Dussehra celebration with giant artistic effigies
The city’s Dussehra festivities featured large artistic replicas burned alongside traditional rituals, highlighting environmental awareness.
New Delhi witnessed a distinctive Dussehra celebration that combined traditional rituals with a strong environmental message. Organisers displayed and later burned large artistic replicas as part of the festivities, aiming to raise public awareness about ecological concerns.
The event showcased elaborate, artistically crafted effigies that stood out for their size and design. By integrating these modern installations with the customary burning ceremony, the organizers sought to demonstrate that cultural celebrations can incorporate sustainability themes.
Traditional elements of Dussehra, such as the symbolic burning of the effigy, were retained, ensuring that the religious significance of the festival remained intact while promoting a greener approach.
The initiative reflects a growing trend in Indian cities to blend heritage celebrations with contemporary environmental advocacy, encouraging citizens to consider eco‑friendly practices during large public events.
