A fleet of 3,473 drones lit up the night sky over Mysuru on Dasara, forming a massive peacock pattern that set a new record.
Mysuru, Karnataka, witnessed an unprecedented aerial spectacle on the opening night of Dasara as more than three thousand drones illuminated the sky. The drones, coordinated by the state’s cultural department in partnership with a private technology firm, traced the outline of a peacock – the national bird and a symbol of the festival – across the horizon.
The display involved exactly 3,473 unmanned aerial vehicles, each equipped with LED lights that changed colour in synchrony. According to officials, the sheer number of drones and the complexity of the formation broke the previous Indian record for the largest coordinated drone show.
Spectators gathered at the palace grounds and along the city’s main avenues, cheering as the luminous peacock spread its wings over the historic Mysore Palace. Organisers said the success of the show demonstrates the growing capability of Indian tech firms to execute large‑scale, precision‑driven events, and they plan to incorporate similar displays in future Dasara celebrations.
The achievement also underscores Mysuru’s ambition to blend tradition with cutting‑edge technology, positioning the city as a showcase for innovative cultural presentations on the national stage.
