NCW member inspects women’s facilities at Dehradun jail

The National Commission for Women sent one of its members to Dehradun Central Jail to review the infrastructure and services available to women inmates. The official toured the prison’s female wing, checking cell size, sanitation facilities, health‑care provisions and access to legal aid. The inspection formed part of the commission’s ongoing effort to monitor compliance with standards for the treatment of women prisoners. After the visit, the member is expected to submit a detailed report to the state prison department, highlighting any gaps and recommending corrective measures.
