Nagaland is finalising arrangements for the 27th Hornbill Festival, a flagship cultural event that will spotlight Naga traditions and draw visitors to Kohima.

The state tourism department of Nagaland has announced that preparations are underway for the 27th edition of the Hornbill Festival, scheduled to be held in the capital city of Kohima. The event, now regarded as a premier showcase of the region’s rich tribal heritage, will feature a series of cultural performances, traditional crafts exhibitions and local cuisine stalls.

Organisers are coordinating with various Naga tribes to present authentic dances, music and folk art, while also setting up infrastructure such as temporary stages, security arrangements and visitor amenities. Local artisans are being invited to display hand‑woven textiles, woodcraft and jewellery, providing a platform for indigenous talent.

State officials expect the festival to boost tourism revenue and reinforce Nagaland’s image as a vibrant cultural destination. The gathering traditionally draws thousands of domestic and international tourists, offering them a glimpse into the customs, rituals and hospitality of the Naga people.

The administration has also highlighted the festival’s role in fostering unity among the state’s diverse communities, emphasizing that the Hornbill Festival remains a symbol of peace and shared identity across Nagaland.
