Nagaland Governor addressed a gathering of defence veterans and welfare officials, urging the state and central governments to review and upgrade existing support schemes for ex‑servicemen. He highlighted gaps in pension disbursement, medical care and rehabilitation services that affect many retired personnel and their dependents.
The governor pointed out that war widows, who have lost spouses in combat operations, often face financial insecurity and limited access to counseling and livelihood programmes. He called for a dedicated fund and streamlined procedures to ensure timely assistance.
He also appealed to civil society and private sector partners to contribute to skill‑development initiatives, enabling veterans and their families to achieve sustainable livelihoods.
