The Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) has begun inspecting potential locations for a proposed cricket stadium in Mangaluru, aiming to boost the city’s sports infrastructure.
Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) officials conducted a field survey today to identify suitable plots for a new cricket stadium in Mangaluru. The inspection covered several parcels of land on the city’s outskirts, with a focus on accessibility, availability of utilities and compliance with zoning regulations.
MUDA officials said the proposed stadium is intended to host domestic tournaments and serve as a training hub for local talent, complementing existing facilities in Karnataka. Detailed feasibility studies and environmental clearances are expected to follow the site assessment.
The project, still in its planning stage, is being discussed with the Karnataka Cricket Association and potential private investors. If approved, the stadium could create jobs and stimulate ancillary development in the surrounding area.
Local residents were briefed about the proposal during a public outreach session, and MUDA pledged to incorporate community feedback into the final design.
The authority will submit a comprehensive report to the municipal council within the next few weeks, after which the council will decide on land allocation and funding mechanisms.
