Monsoon retreats from Madhya Pradesh as October showers expected

The monsoon has withdrawn from Madhya Pradesh after delivering 35.6 inches of rain, about 4% below normal, and forecasters anticipate rainfall in October.
The southwest monsoon has moved out of Madhya Pradesh, ending the current rainy spell in the state. Over the monsoon period the region recorded 35.6 inches of rainfall, which is roughly four percent below the long‑term average for this season.
Meteorological agencies have noted the shortfall and warned that the deficit may affect agricultural sowing schedules. However, they also project that the retreat is temporary and that the state is likely to receive appreciable rain in October as the monsoon re‑advances.
Officials advise farmers to monitor upcoming forecasts and adopt water‑conserving practices until the next round of showers arrives.
