Former India pacer Mohit Sharma has been named the bowling coach of IPL side Chennai Super Kings after retiring from all formats, having played his final IPL match in 2025.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) confirmed on Monday that former Indian fast‑bowler Mohit Sharma will join the franchise as its new bowling coach. The appointment comes as CSK looks to bolster its pace department ahead of the upcoming IPL season.
Sharma, who made his IPL debut with the Kings XI Punjab, played his last IPL match in 2025 before announcing retirement from all formats of cricket. Over a decade-long career, he represented India in Tests, ODIs and T20Is, earning a reputation for his swing and consistency.
In his new role, Sharma will work closely with head coach Stephen Fleming and the existing support staff to develop the pace attack, mentor young bowlers, and devise strategies for the power‑play and death overs. The move is seen as part of CSK's broader strategy to blend experience with emerging talent.
CSK's management expressed confidence that Sharma's international experience and recent playing insights will add value to the team's bowling unit, aiming to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
The appointment marks Sharma's first full‑time coaching assignment at the franchise level, signalling his transition from player to mentor within Indian cricket's premier tournament.
