Mohali Residents Demand Dedicated Bus Service to Kharar Railway Station

Local commuters in Mohali have formally requested the Punjab Transport Department to introduce a dedicated bus service linking the city with Kharar railway station. The demand stems from growing passenger traffic at the station and the absence of a direct, scheduled bus route that can cater to daily travelers.

Representatives of resident welfare associations submitted a petition highlighting the inconvenience faced by workers, students and traders who rely on public transport to reach the station. They argue that a dedicated service would reduce travel time, ease congestion on existing routes and improve overall connectivity within the Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district.

Authorities have acknowledged the appeal and indicated that they will assess feasibility, route planning and resource allocation before making a decision. No official timeline has been announced yet, but officials assured that the matter will be discussed in the upcoming district transport meeting.

If approved, the new bus line is expected to operate at regular intervals during peak hours, offering a reliable alternative to private vehicles and informal shared transport.
