The state government has installed a new synthetic football pitch in Siju, aiming to provide better training facilities for local players and host regional tournaments.
The Meghalaya government has laid a new synthetic turf football pitch in the town of Siju, marking a significant upgrade to the state's sports infrastructure. The modern surface is expected to offer a more consistent playing experience compared to the existing natural grass fields.
Officials say the pitch will serve as a training hub for local clubs and youth academies, helping to nurture talent across the region. It also opens the possibility of hosting state‑level matches and regional tournaments, which could attract teams from neighboring states.
The project is part of Meghalaya’s broader strategy to promote sports and provide better facilities for athletes. While the exact cost of the installation was not disclosed, the initiative reflects the state’s commitment to improving sports infrastructure and encouraging grassroots participation.
