The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has begun preparations to eliminate dustbins city‑wide, introducing separate waste‑management schemes for each ward.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) announced that it is moving ahead with a comprehensive programme aimed at making the national capital bin‑free. Under the scheme, the traditional reliance on public dustbins will be reduced significantly as each of Delhi's wards will receive a tailored waste‑management plan.

The ward‑level strategies will focus on source segregation, door‑to‑door collection and the use of decentralized processing units to handle organic and recyclable material. MCD officials said the approach is intended to improve sanitation, curb littering and align the city with modern solid‑waste practices.

Implementation is expected to begin in the coming weeks, with pilot projects in selected wards before a city‑wide rollout. The corporation has not disclosed exact timelines or budget allocations, but it emphasized that the initiative will be monitored closely to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
