A 65-year-old shepherd, Rajendra Yadav, was found dead in Jamunia forest of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve after sustaining severe injuries, prompting the forest department to intensify patrols.

The forest officials of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve recovered the body of 65-year-old Rajendra Yadav, a cattle‑herder who had entered the Jamunia forest area in search of grazing grounds. The discovery was made by forest‑department personnel during a routine patrol.

Preliminary examination of the corpse revealed multiple deep lacerations and blunt‑force injuries, leading investigators to suspect a tiger attack as the most probable cause. No other human footprints or signs of struggle were reported at the site.

In response, the Madhya Pradesh Forest Department has ordered an immediate increase in surveillance across the reserve, deploying additional ranger teams and installing temporary camera traps near the incident zone. Authorities have also advised local shepherds to avoid venturing deep into the forest during early mornings and evenings.

Bandhavgarh, known for its high density of Bengal tigers, has witnessed occasional human‑wildlife conflicts in recent years. The department reiterated its commitment to balancing wildlife conservation with the safety of forest‑dependent communities.
