The Manipur state cabinet approved higher ex-gratia payments for serving army and CAPF personnel and for families of those missing in the ongoing unrest, according to the Economic Times.

Manipur's cabinet met on Wednesday and decided to increase the ex-gratia amount payable to Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel deployed in the state. The move comes as the region continues to experience violent clashes that have left several civilians missing.

The revised compensation package is intended to provide greater financial relief to the families of soldiers and police officers who have lost lives or sustained injuries, as well as to the relatives of civilians reported missing during the unrest.

State officials said the decision reflects the government's commitment to support those directly affected by the conflict and to acknowledge the sacrifices of security forces operating in the volatile environment.

The announcement was made without specifying the exact quantum of the increase, but sources indicated it aligns with similar measures taken in other conflict‑prone states.

The cabinet's resolution is expected to be implemented immediately, with the finance department tasked with processing the revised payouts.
