Sri Ganganagar‑born batsman Manav Suthar has been named captain of Rajasthan’s Ranji Trophy side and is being eyed for a potential role in the New Zealand tour.
Manav Suthar, a right‑hand batsman hailing from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, has been appointed captain of the state’s Ranji Trophy side for the current season. The board’s decision places him at the helm of a side that has been seeking consistency in India’s premier domestic competition.
Suthar’s cricketing journey began on the dusty grounds of Sri Ganganagar, where he progressed through district and state age‑group teams before breaking into the senior squad. His steady performances with the bat earned him recognition, culminating in the leadership role that now tasks him with steering Rajasthan through a challenging schedule.
Selectors have also indicated that Suthar’s form could earn him a place in the Indian contingent touring New Zealand later this year. While no official squad has been announced, his recent displays have put him on the radar of national decision‑makers, adding a further incentive to his captaincy responsibilities.
