A male tiger carcass was recovered from the Khur Mundi Beat forest in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, with preliminary investigations pointing to electrocution as the cause. The forest department has detained two suspects for questioning.

Balaghat district's former Baheer range, specifically the Khur Mundi Beat forest area, yielded the body of a male tiger earlier this week. Forest officials said the animal appeared lifeless when recovered and that no obvious injuries from weapons were visible.

Preliminary forensic assessment suggested that the tiger may have died after coming into contact with an electric current, a method sometimes used by poachers to immobilise wildlife. The department has launched a formal inquiry to confirm the cause of death.

In connection with the case, two individuals have been taken into custody for interrogation. Authorities have not disclosed their identities but indicated that the suspects are linked to recent illegal activities reported in the region.

The incident adds to growing concerns over tiger poaching in central India, prompting the forest department to intensify patrols and surveillance in vulnerable habitats.
