Maldives President Muizzu Turns to India, Visits Delhi’s Friendship Bridge

President Mohamed Muizzu of the Maldives arrived in Delhi on a diplomatic mission that marks a significant shift in his country’s foreign policy stance. The visit, described as a U‑turn, saw the Maldives head of state participate in the ‘Bridge of Friendship’ ceremony, a symbolic event aimed at deepening ties between the two nations.

The ceremony, held in Delhi, was attended by senior officials from both countries. Muizzu’s presence underscored a renewed commitment to cooperation in areas such as maritime security, trade and climate resilience.
