Kuala Lumpur’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim travelled to the southern Indian state of Kerala for a brief official visit. During his stay, he met with Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar, a prominent Islamic scholar and head of the Kerala Islamic Scholars’ Association. The meeting, held at the cleric’s residence in Kerala, focused on strengthening cultural and religious ties between the two nations.
Anwar was presented with a specially commissioned award by the Kerala Islamic Scholars’ Association in recognition of his efforts to promote inter‑faith harmony and cooperation with the Indian subcontinent. The award ceremony was attended by local dignitaries, community leaders and a small delegation from the Malaysian embassy.
Both parties expressed optimism that the interaction would pave the way for deeper collaboration in education, religious dialogue and people‑to‑people contacts.
