From October 15, school bus operators across Maharashtra will no longer accept fee payments via UPI, prompting parents to use alternative methods.

School bus operators in Maharashtra have announced that, effective October 15, they will stop accepting fee payments through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The decision affects all private and municipal bus services that transport schoolchildren across the state. Operators said the move is driven by rising transaction costs and technical challenges associated with UPI settlements. Parents are advised to revert to cash, bank transfers, or other digital payment modes already accepted by the schools. The change is expected to be communicated by individual bus providers and school administrations in the coming weeks.
