The state government has temporarily shut down more than 30 online portals after discovering a serious vulnerability in PHP software. Initially about 100 sites were affected, but 70 have been brought back online following upgrades.

The Madhya Pradesh government announced that it has temporarily taken down more than 30 of its official websites after identifying a critical flaw in the PHP software that powers many of the portals. The vulnerability, which could allow unauthorized access, prompted an immediate response from the state’s cyber‑security team.

Initially, the shutdown covered nearly 100 government sites, including portals for health, agriculture, and revenue services. After a rapid assessment and patching of the affected PHP code, 70 of the sites have been restored to service. The remaining sites are undergoing further security hardening before they are brought back online.

Officials said the decision was taken to prevent potential data breaches and to safeguard citizen information. The state’s IT department will continue to monitor the systems and is working with software vendors to ensure that all public portals meet updated security standards.
