During Operation Prahar, Madhya Pradesh police confiscated 1.57 crore rupees worth of cannabis, seizing 1,284 plants cultivated between cotton and wheat fields in Dhar district.
The Madhya Pradesh police, acting under the banner of Operation Prahar, carried out a raid in Dhar district and uncovered two separate illegal cannabis cultivation sites.
Investigators found the drug growing in the gaps between cotton and wheat crops, a practice that had gone unnoticed until the recent operation. A total of 1,284 cannabis plants were seized, and the estimated market value of the haul was placed at ₹1.57 crore.
Police officials said the seizure underscores a growing trend of narcotics cultivation in agricultural zones and warned that further investigations will target similar operations across the state. The seized material will be handed over to the relevant authorities for destruction, and the case has been forwarded to the district court for prosecution under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
