The Sub‑Divisional Magistrate of Ludhiana visited agricultural fields to curb stubble burning, urging farmers to avoid setting fire to crop residues.
The Sub‑Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ludhiana made a field visit this week to address the growing problem of stubble burning in the region’s farms.
During the visit, the SDM met with local farmers and explained the environmental and health risks associated with setting fire to crop residues, including air pollution and soil degradation.
He appealed to the farmers to adopt alternative disposal methods, such as mulching or mechanical shredding, and warned that continued stubble burning could lead to stricter enforcement actions.
The SDM also announced that the district administration would monitor the situation more closely and support farmers in accessing government schemes that promote sustainable residue management.
Farmers expressed a willingness to cooperate, noting that awareness campaigns and better access to machinery could help reduce the practice of stubble burning.
