Authorities are acquiring roughly 13,500 acres to develop nine new industrial townships in the Bangalore Metropolitan Region, aimed at housing, sustainability and job creation.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Region (BMR) is set to host nine integrated industrial townships as part of a large‑scale development initiative. The project covers an estimated 13,500 acres of land surrounding Bengaluru and is intended to boost housing, promote sustainable practices and generate employment opportunities.

The planned townships will combine industrial facilities with residential zones, creating self‑contained hubs that support both economic activity and community living. By integrating sustainability measures, the development seeks to align with modern environmental standards while fostering a balanced urban ecosystem.

Land acquisition for the 13,500‑acre expanse is currently in progress, with authorities coordinating the necessary procedures to secure the required parcels. The ongoing process marks a critical step toward the commencement of construction and subsequent implementation of the townships.

Once completed, the nine townships are expected to contribute significantly to the region’s industrial capacity and provide new jobs, thereby strengthening Bangalore’s position as a major economic centre in the state.
