The Kerala State Electricity Board plans to procure up to 600 megawatts of electricity during peak hours from Himachal Pradesh to mitigate ongoing power disruptions in the state.

KSEB has expressed its intention to source 600 MW of power from Himachal Pradesh specifically during peak consumption periods. The move is intended to supplement the state's electricity supply and reduce the frequency of outages experienced by consumers.

Officials said that securing additional power from the northern state would help meet the rising demand during evening hours when usage spikes. The arrangement would rely on existing inter-state transmission corridors.

While the exact modalities of the procurement are yet to be finalized, KSEB officials are optimistic that the agreement will bring noticeable relief to the power situation in Kerala.
