Police in Kerala have detained a principal suspect linked to the killing of a senior RJD leader in Bihar.
Kerala police announced on Tuesday that they have taken into custody a key accused in the murder of a senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader from Bihar. The arrest was made during a routine check in the state, and the suspect was identified through a series of investigations coordinated with Bihar law‑enforcement agencies.
The murder case, which shocked the political landscape of Bihar, remains under active investigation. The victim, a prominent RJD figure, was shot dead in a public setting last year, prompting a multi‑state probe involving the Bihar Police and the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Authorities said the apprehended individual is believed to have played a central role in planning the attack. The police have not disclosed further details about the evidence linking the suspect to the crime, citing procedural reasons. The arrest is expected to bolster the ongoing inquiry and may lead to additional leads in the case.
The development has drawn comments from political leaders across parties, who urged swift justice while emphasizing the need for due process. The suspect will be produced before a court in Kerala, where the legal proceedings will determine the next steps.
The case underscores the challenges of inter‑state criminal investigations in India and highlights cooperation between state police forces in tackling politically sensitive crimes.
